The Russian industrial group AFK Sistema has applied for regulatory approval to acquire the 50% of CDMA operator SkyLink that it does not already own. The application has been received by the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service, Reuters reports. Sistema, which also has stakes in Russia’s largest cellco, Mobile TeleSystems, and fixed line operator Comstar UTS, is expected to sell its 50% interest in long-distance operator Multiregional TransitTelecom (MTT) to finance the deal. SkyLink had around 700,000 subscribers on its CDMA-450 networks at the end of July.
