Unitymedia snaps up PrimaCom networks in Aachen and Wiesbaden

11 Aug 2008

Unitymedia has acquired level 4 cable networks providing last mile access in the cities of Aachen and Wiesbaden from PrimaCom. Rapid TV News reports that the deal, valued at EUR49 million (USD79.6 million), will enable Unitymedia to directly supply around 100,000 cable households with television, internet and telephony services. Until now, Unitymedia was only able to offer analogue and digital television in the two cities due to the wholesale level 3 signal delivery contract with PrimaCom, which directly served the households. PrimaCom plans to concentrate on its key regions in middle and eastern Germany.
