Tiscali: 1H EBITDA rises 55%; slips into net loss

Tiscali has announced its first half 2008 EBITDA rose 55% to EUR95.8 million (USD147.7 million), benefiting from the acquisition of Pipex in the UK, but it posted a net loss in the absence of capital gains from asset disposals. Revenues in the six months ended 30 June 2008 rose 36% to EUR535.2 million as ADSL customers rose by 376,000 to 2.4 million, including over 1.2 million unbundled local loop (LLU) customers and more than a million customers purchasing ‘bundles’ of services. But Tiscali posted a net loss of EUR57.2 million, compared to a profit of EUR22.4 million a year earlier which included a gain on the sale of its Dutch unit.
