T-Mobile, Cosmofon halve wholesale prices

8 Aug 2008

Macedonian citizens are likely to benefit from cheaper mobile communications following a decision by T-Mobile and Cosmofon to halve the wholesale prices they charge other operators in the country to connect with their networks. A report in the local newspaper Vreme says that the two cellcos have cut tariffs for all national calls from MKD7.6 (USD0.19) per minute to MKD3.8. T-Mobile and Cosmofon published the new price lists on their web sites. They entered into effect on 1 August said the regulator, the Macedonian Agency for Electronic Communications (AEC). Local industry watchers hope the move will lead to a decrease in end-user retail prices, which comes two months after the watchdog rejected an appeal from the cellcos and ordered them to cut interconnection rates by 50%.
