Brazil’s telecoms regulator Anatel plans to stick to its original timetable and launch number portability (NP) in the country on 1 September, BNamericas reports citing Anatel president Ronaldo Sardenberg as saying. ‘There is no room to be flexible on this. This [NP] was not something that was decided from one day to another. The issue has been discussed for many months,’ he said. Fixed and mobile operators have reportedly expressed concerns over the proposed implementation of the service but Sardenberg hopes any issues will be resolved and has given them until March 2009 to fully implement the new NP provisions.
