UPC customer acquisitions and losses

7 Aug 2008

UPC reported 1.31 million customers in Romania at 30 June 2008 compared to 1.35 million twelve months previously. The decline of approximately 3% was due almost entirely to a drop of 40,000 television customers (cable, digital cable, DTH and MMDS). The operator saw an increase in telephony and the internet customers, attracting 80,400 new internet subscribers, taking the total to 218,200 as of 30 June 2008. The company had 118,800 telephony customers at the same date, up from 71,900 at 30 June 2007.

UPC group revenues totalled EUR1.75 billion (USD2.7 billion) in the first half of the year, up 6.2% from EUR1.64 billion in the corresponding period of 2007. In Central and Eastern Europe, UPC reported 7.5% growth in revenue, from EUR423 million to EUR455 million.
