53 million active lines but not enough customer care, says NCC

6 Aug 2008

Statistics released by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) reveal that the country was home to 53.3 million active lines at the end of June 2008. The regulator’s CEO, Ernest Ndukwe, said ‘Nigeria has taken a bold lead in Africa in terms of telephone availability to the population and we must congratulate ourselves on this development’. However, he also went on to warn that service providers were not providing enough customer care centres for users to resolve their complaints. According to AllAfrica.com, Ndukwe stated that none of the operators was doing well in this regard, and it was a situation that was no longer acceptable to the NCC.
