TRA wants CPS available by 2009

According to a report by local newspaper Gulf News, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has instructed Etisalat and Du to adapt their networks in order to provide carrier pre-selection services (CPS) by next year. In a statement the watchdog said that CPS will increase competition, reduce prices and enable consumers to freely choose their provider of national and international calls. A carrier selection service (CS) has been in place in the country since 2007.
