Telkom wins banking network deal

South Africa’s incumbent fixed line operator Telkom has won a ZAR1.7 billion (USD237 million) contract to supply the local banking group Absa with communications services. The five-year deal will revamp Absa’s wide-area network and will cover 2,548 sites, including branches, automated cash machines and central data centres, according to a report from Dow Jones.
