China Mobile: second phase of TD-SCDMA network approved

China Business News reports that a senior executive with China Mobile has revealed that the company’s second phase of TD-SCDMA construction has been approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MII), and that actual construction will begin after the Olympics. The 3G network roll out will encompass 28 cities. An equipment manufacturer revealed that approximately 30,000 new base stations will be used in the second phase of construction.
