31 Jul 2008

US and Caribbean mobile and broadband operator Centennial Communications posted a 148% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit in its fiscal fourth quarter ended 31 May 2008 to USD12.9 million, on revenues that climbed 14% to USD259 million. Full-year group net profit reached USD25 million compared to a loss of USD32 million in FY 2007, on revenues of USD1 billion, up from USD912 million. In Puerto Rico, Centennial’s fiscal 2008 revenues stood at USD451 million compared to USD413 million the previous year, broken down into wireless, USD328 million, and broadband USD135 million. Puerto Rico annual wireless operating income increased by 16% to USD118 million, helped by 5% growth in subscribers over twelve months to 427,300 at end-May 2008. Puerto Rico broadband operations saw an 8% rise in operating income in the year to 31 May to USD73 million, primarily due to a 16% increase in total switched, dedicated and ‘equivalent’ access lines to 582,200, partially offset by a decrease in recurring revenue per line.
