BSkyB broadband subscriber growth strong, exceeds expectations

UK triple-play provider BSkyB has announced its results for the twelve-month period ending 30 June 2008, revealing that it added 200,000 new customers to its broadband service, bringing its total to 1.62 million. The operator’s talk package, Sky Talk, also performed well, reporting 146,000 subscriber additions over the period. As a result, revenues grew to GBP4.95 billion (UDS9.8 billion), up 9% year-on-year, with the operator stating that it expected continued growth. Chief Executive Jeremy Darroch said, ‘While there is much uncertainty around the consumer environment, there remains good headroom for profitable growth in our core sectors.’
