Regulator approves network consultation

30 Jul 2008

Italy’s telecoms regulator Agcom has approved a public consultation into the proposed opening of Telecom Italia’s wireline networks to competitors. In February this year Telecom Italia created a new operating unit for its networks business called Open Access. The telco is also offering to set up a watchdog to oversee its network operations and guarantee equal access to rival operators. The consultation period will be concluded at the end of September, Dow Jones reports.
