Japan’s NTT Communications (NTT Com), a division of Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp (NTT), has deployed Juniper Networks’ T1600 core router to scale the capacity of its global IP network, Business Wire reports. NTT Com owns and operates the largest dedicated internet backbone network in the world, and will utilise the routers to meet rising demand for IPTV and multi-play services, it said. ‘To support rapid increase of internet traffic and services, we upgraded our backbone network with T1600s to expand routing capacity, while also minimising operational cost, space and power consumption,’ said Kempei Fukuda, director, global network department, NTT Com.
