NCAH reports 27% rise in broadband subscribers

30 Jul 2008

According to data published by the Hungarian telecoms regulator the National Telecommunications Authority of Hungary (NCAH), the number of ADSL and cable modem broadband subscriptions rose 27% year-on-year to 1.45 million by the end of June. Of the total, 779,000 were ADSL-based broadband internet subscribers, up from 685,000 a year earlier, and about 668,000 were cable, against 351,000 at end-June 2007. The NCAH’s figures for cable take-up are based on an estimate compiled using the operational statistics from the country’s top four cablecos UPC, T-Kabel, Fibernet and Digi, which between them had 474,000 customers at the end of June, equivalent to around 70% of that segment.
