Japanese multiservice cable, broadband and telephony operator Jupiter Telecommunications (J:COM) reported strong financial results for the first six months of 2008, with revenues up 12% year-on-year to JPY144 billion (USD1.37 billion) and operating income 25% higher at JPY25.4 billion. The operator’s EBITDA was also up 13% on a year earlier at JPY58.7 billion, while free cash flow was strong at JPY20 billion (up 13%). The MSO said that sales of broadband and telephony services were ‘robust’ but efforts to stimulate growth in its cable TV business had not worked as planned and sales there were ‘flat’.
