Singapore’s national broadcaster MediaCorp will next month begin a consumer trial of mobile TV using Digital Video Broadcasting – Handheld (DVB-H) technology in partnership with local operators MobileOne Asia (M1), SingTel Mobile and StarHub. Close to 300 people will participate in the pilot which is scheduled to run for three months. Those taking part in the trial will be provided with a Samsung P-960 handset enabling them to access six dedicated TV channels during the three-month period, including coverage of the Beijing Olympics, Barclays Premier League action on StarHub’s Football Channel, the Singaporean Cantonese movie channel, Mei Ah Movies Channel, TVBS News and Channel News Asia. The pilot is being supported by Alcatel-Lucent and Gemalto.
