Vodafone interested in Freenet's broadband operations

24 Jul 2008

Reuters reports that Vodafone Germany is interested in buying the DSL broadband business of Freenet. Vodafone recently bought the 26.4% it did not already own in fixed network operator Arcor for EUR474 million (USD747 million) and now looks keen to expand its German broadband services further. Freenet was formed from the merger of mobile operator mobilcom and its internet arm in March 2007. However, last year it said it wanted to focus on its wireless business and put its DSL unit up for sale.
