Government to continue talks with ETI

23 Jul 2008

BNamericas is reporting that the Bolivian government will continue to deal directly with Euro Telecom International (ETI) regarding the troubled re-nationalisation of fixed-line telco Entel. ETI, the Telecom Italia owned holding company, had earlier this month approached the World Bank’s International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) for assistance, but the government has refused to recognise the arbitrator’s authority. Despite the attempts to continue direct discussions, it is understood that the government will continue to prepare its legal strategy should talks with ETI falter again.
