The dates for the auction of 3G and WiMAX licences in Mexico are still undecided, according to the secretary for the transport and communications ministry (SCT), Luis Tellez. BNamericas is reporting that despite regulator Cofetel delivering the auction plan to the SCT in June 2007, no further decisions have been made regarding the auctions. Following initial approval of plans, the first 3G auction was supposed to take place within 90 days and WiMAX within 180 days. Currently no terms for bidding have been published and it is still unclear whether the auctions will even take place this year. It is understood that, with SCT in the process of replacing two of its five commissioners, the internal changes may be partly responsible for the hold-up.
