Turk Telekom interested in Kyrgyztelecom

18 Jul 2008

Turk Telekom declared yesterday that it was considering bidding in a tender to acquire 78% of Kyrgyztelecom, reports Reuters. The Turkish telco added that it had formed a working group with parent company Oger Telecom to evaluate whether to proceed. Last month Kyrgyzstan officials revealed plans to sell the 78% stake for at least USD45 million. In 2004 Detecon of Germany won a previous tender, but parliament cancelled the deal, saying the price was too low.
