Jajah brings mobile VoIP to eMobile

16 Jul 2008

Japanese mobile newcomer eMobile has teamed up with Jajah Mobile to launch EM-ONE, an IP-only device that will allow the cellco’s users to make and receive voice-over-mobile broadband calls via the developer’s mobile software client without needing a traditional mobile connection. According to TMCnet, the Jajah software utilises a data channel on a HSDPA connection to deliver voice services. eMobile and Jajah launched an outbound-only IP-mobile service last year, which proved immediately popular, attracting thousands of users. The latest release allows eMobile customers to make and receive calls to more than 200 countries using the device. Calls between eMobile customers are free using a pure session internet protocol (SIP) connection.
