ELRO inks WiMAX deal with ECI

15 Jul 2008

Danish utilities company ELRO has signed a three-year framework agreement with ECI Telecom for the provision of a nationwide WiMAX network, beginning in the area of Randers. ELRO, which received its WiMAX concession last year, hopes to complete the deployment by 2010. Alvarion and Ceragon will join ECI in providing some of the equipment. The network is said to include an integrated transport, WiMAX and radio wireless backhaul solution based on IP over next-generation SDH, combining ECI’s XDM and BroadGate Multi-Service Provisioning Platforms (MSPP), with Alvarion’s BreezeMAX WiMAX platform and Ceragon’s FibeAir microwave technology. No financial details have been disclosed.
