Wataniya Palestine closing in on spectrum

14 Jul 2008

After numerous delays Wataniya Palestine, a subsidiary of Qatar’s Qtel, looks to be getting close to obtaining the spectrum it needs to launch services. A response to the Israeli telecoms regulator’s recent offer of spectrum is understood to have been filed at the beginning of July 2008, local business source Meed is reporting. Should the Israeli regulator agree on the details of the deal, frequencies will be released, with Wataniya Palestine chief executive Allan Richardson quoted as saying, ‘We want to be launched by the end of this year; we have got to be launched by the end of this year. We expect to get the spectrum issue resolved in the next couple of weeks’.
