Verizon Wireless claims widest 3G coverage

Verizon Wireless, the second largest cellular operator in the US in terms of subscriber numbers, says its 3G mobile network now covers 80% of the US population, giving it the widest high speed network coverage of any domestic carrier. Verizon Wireless says it has invested more than USD45 billion since it was formed to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. In each of the last three years, the cellco has invested USD6.5 billion or more to expand and advance its network for customers nationwide. Verizon Wireless had 67.18 million subscribers at the end of March, according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database.
