14 Jul 2008

Skopje-based cable TV provider Telekabel, together with an Austrian partner, has announced plans to enter the domestic fixed telephony market in Macedonia, local paper Vecer reports. The company says commercial launch is scheduled to take place on 1 September 2008, although it declined to reveal details about tariffs or call prices. Zoran Iliev, the head of Telekabel, said his firm is close to signing an interconnection deal with Makedonski Telekom and hopes to offer lower prices than those of the incumbent or alternative operator On.Net, which provides services through its Ontel unit.
