T-Mobile Germany has announced in a press release that it has completed the upgrade of its W-CDMA network with HSUPA technology, providing theoretical data uplink speeds of up to 1.4Mbps across its entire 3G footprint. The cellco added that it aims to increase peak upstream speeds to 2Mbps by the end of 2008. Currently, the 3G/3.5G network provides downloads via HSDPA at speeds of 3.6Mbps in all cities with populations greater than 50,000, while 250 cities can take advantage of a maximum downstream speed of 7.2Mbps. Concurrently the company is deploying EDGE over its GSM network to give nationwide data services coverage.
