DiGi looking to boost post-paid subscriber base

Malaysian mobile operator DiGi Telecommunications (DiGi) has announced the launch of four new post-paid plans, with prices ranging from MYR20 (USD6.15) to MYR250 (UDS77). During the announcement at a press conference, DiGi chief commercial officer Tom Schnitker stated that the company expects post-paid subscriber growth this year to pass the 41% recorded in the first quarter of 2008. Also revealed was news that DiGi is likely to introduce 3G services by the first quarter of 2009. According to Telegeography’s GlobalComms database, DiGi was the third largest mobile operator in Malaysia at March 2008, with a total subscriber base of 6.5 million.
