Uzbektelecom has completed the modernisation of its CDMA-450 network at a cost of USD6.6 million, according to the company’s technical director Galina Gafurbekova. Chinese equipment vendor Huawei was responsible for the upgrade, supplying and installing 70 base stations and three exchanges, with a capacity for 40,000 numbers. ‘We have test-launched a CDMA-450 network in nine regions. Now that this project has been completed we can provide the whole of Uzbekistan with the service,’ Gafurbekova said. The project was financed using a loan from the Chinese Bank for Development.
