9 Jul 2008

South Korean cellular operator KT Freetel (KTF) says it has been approached by Taiwanese counterpart Vibo Telecom about making a possible investment in Vibo. A report from Dow Jones quotes KTF spokesperson Yeon-Ju Lee, who says: ‘Vibo has approached us to sound us out about a possible investment in the company.’ She adds: ‘We’re looking at the company for investment, but it’s too early to decide on anything. We’re at a very initial stage.’ Vibo Telecom is a pure 3G player which launched a W-CDMA network in December 2005 and now has approximately 650,000 subscribers according to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database.
