8 Jul 2008

Reuters is reporting that the auction for the second fixed line licence in Egypt has been postponed. A date of 18 September has been given for the auction, with the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) citing global market conditions as one of the reasons for the postponement. This is the second time that the auction has been delayed, with the original date having been set as 19 June, and subsequently delayed to 29 July. Companies that have expressed an interest in the licence include France Telecom, Orascom Telecom, Giza Systems and Noor Financial Company.
