Chunghwa lowers MOD target

8 Jul 2008

Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom has lowered its forecast for end-year subscribers on its Multimedia on Demand (MOD) fibre network. The firm had been hoping to reach one million MOD customers by the end of 2008 but says it is now likely to achieve around 700,000-800,000. Chunghwa’s fibre networks, which offer voice, internet and TV services, carried 520,000 subscribers at the start of July, DigiTimes reports. The company is currently adding around 30,000 net new users a month, and says it hopes to improve take-up with the launch of new high definition sports content in time for this summer’s Olympic Games.
