Aztelekom WiLL network reaches 10,480 subs; MCIT puts in motion 3G plan

Aztelekom has announced that its WiLL CDMA-based network is home to 10,480 customers, and that it hopes the subscriber base will reach 20,000 by the end of 2008. Twelve base stations have been installed by Chinese vendor Huawei.

Meanwhile, in separate news the country’s regulator the Ministry of Communications & Information Technologies (MCIT) has submitted a 3G frequency use proposal to Azercell, Bakcell and Azerfon (Nar Mobile). ‘The three operators were offered frequencies for 3G services. Now they should coordinate them between each other,’ the Ministry said, according to Azerbaijan Business Center.
