Indonesia’s largest telecoms operator by subscribers and revenues, PT Telkom, has signed separate agreements with nine foreign operators aimed at increasing traffic capacity on its international networks. The Jakarta Post writes that the cooperation deal will allow Telkom and each of the nine companies involved – Singapore’s Asiakomnet, Inacces, Shine Town, StarHub and Sunvone; South Korea’s Korea Telecom; Taiwan Fixed Network, Telecom Italia Sparkle and Hong Kong-based Hutchison Global Communications – to connect their point communications operation under a single network. Telkom has recently invested USD50 million to increase its international bandwidth capacity which currently stands at 8.2Gbps. It is looking to reach 40Gbps per month in 2010.
