CURE looking for 60,000-70,000 mobile subscribers by year-end

Filipino mobile operator Connectivity Unlimited Resource Enterprise (CURE), a subsidiary of PLDT-owned Smart Communications, says it is looking to sign up between 60,000 and 70,000 subscribers to its advertising-supported service by the end of 2008. Gerardo Balderama, chief marketing officer of Cure, told local newspaper The Inquirer that the start-up had already attracted between 5,000 and 10,000 applicants to the new uMobile service in its first month of operation.
