Belgian cableco Telenet said it has agreed a deal to acquire Interkabel’s 800,000 TV customers, beating off a rival offer from Belgacom. ‘Today, the pure cable companies [sic] and Interkabel have signed a final agreement with Telenet related to the acquisition of the analogue and digital subscriber base and the purchase and the long-term lease of certain network assets,’ Telenet said in a statement. Belgian daily De Tijd reported on Saturday that Telenet put together a bid worth EUR425 million (USD669 million) for the Flanders-based operator, EUR5 million euros above Belgacom’s offer and EUR75 million above Telenet’s original offer.
