Fiji mulls new ICT taskforce to improve industry

Fiji is considering appointing a new ICT taskforce to tackle some of the chronic shortcomings undermining the development of the nation’s ICT industry. It is understood the proposals are designed to stimulate the creation of new jobs in the hope of growing the country’s wider economy. Terms of Reference documents have been complied to highlight the various issues, including those relating to infrastructure, that need addressing, and local paper FijiLive claims to obtained a draft of the proposals commissioned by local players Fiji Islands Trade and Investment Bureau (FTIB), FINTEL and Telecom Fiji, to identify and develop IT enabled services project in Fiji.
