NTT East looks to beat 10m fibre-optic subscriber target

The new President of Nippon Telegraph & Telephone East Corp (NTT East), Tsutomu Ebe, says he hopes to increase efforts to boost the number of people using its fibre-optic broadband service to ten million as soon as possible, Jiji Press reports. In a press conference Ebe said the company’s goal was to sign up 11.40 million fibre users by the end of March 2011, up from 5.27 million at the end of last month. NTT East and sister company NTT West hope to achieve a combined subscriber base of 20 million by 31 March 2011.
