Four companies express interest in mobile licence

25 Jun 2008

Following on from yesterday’s report that Rwanda was to issue a third mobile concession, four operators are said to have expressed an informal interest. President Paul Kagame told journalists that Orascom (Egypt), KT Corp (South Korea), Zain (Kuwait) and an Israeli company – as yet unidentified – had all enquired about the new licence. KT is believed to be well placed should it decide to make a bid as it is currently conducting a feasibility study for the rollout of a national fibre-optic backbone.
