Romanian incumbent wireline operator RomTelecom has reported that it has signed up more than 500,000 fixed line broadband subscribers. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database the telco launched its ADSL network in May 2005, under its own brand and via its ISP subsidiary ClickNet, and had signed up 360,000 users by the end of 2007, up from 89,000 at end-2006. RomTelecom aims to become a true triple-play broadband provider, and recently launched pilot ClickNet VoIP services and plans to roll out an IPTV platform by the end of the year.
