The French cable operator Numericable is launching an ADSL service using the network infrastructure of its sister company Completel, reports Telecompaper citing an article in DSL Valley. The cableco’s new broadband service costs EUR29.90 (USD46.60) a month in unbundled areas, giving the user a maximum 20Mbps connection, free modem rental and unlimited calls to other mainland numbers in France as well as to 45 international destinations. In areas that are not unbundled, the service will cost EUR34.90 per month. Internet access is limited to 10Mbps, although users will benefit from the same offer vis a vis telephony calls. Numericable’s fledgling ADSL offering also includes 39 TV channels, it said.
