According to BalkanInsight.com, Eagle Mobile, Albania’s third wireless network operator, has achieved coverage of 95% of the country’s population. The company, which launched its GSM-based network on 13 March 2008, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Albtelecom, the former state-owned fixed line company which was sold last year to the CT Tel consortium, itself owned by Turkey’s Calik Holdings Group (80%) and Turk Telekom (20%), for EUR120 million.
