Le Ngoc Minh, general director at Vietnamese operator MobiFone, has revealed that the company plans to sell 15% of its stocks to strategic investors and 15% to the public via an IPO before the end of 2008, reports state news agency VietnamNet. Another source said that MobiFone may sell a further 19% after the IPO, leaving the state with a 51% holding. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, at the end of March 2008 MobiFone was Vietnam’s second largest cellco by subscribers, claiming 29.3% of the market, just behind leader Viettel with 29.7%.
