Coscom, Uzbekistan’s third largest mobile operator in terms of subscribers, has announced that it is switching to the new brand of Ucell. According to the firm’s director general Oguz Memiguven: ‘[In] changing the brand to Ucell, we wanted to underscore our belonging to Uzbekistan, and at the same time show that Coscom is now a part of large family of world class telecommunications companies. In mid-2007 a controlling interest in Coscom was acquired by Swedish telco TeliaSonera. At the end of March 2008 the company’s subscriber base exceeded a million.
