Singapore gets full MNP

13 Jun 2008

From today, Singapore’s mobile users can finally switch carriers while retaining their existing number under mobile number portability (MNP) rules implemented by the regulator the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA). Until now, the city-state has employed a half-way house scheme under which users have had to use a call-forwarding solution – using their old and new numbers concurrently. The introduction of MNP was expected last year but rollout was delayed after operators requested more time to complete testing on their networks.
