State fixed, mobile operators take step towards integration

12 Jun 2008

Ecuadorian state-owned sister telcos Andinatel and Pacifictel have formed a strategic planning consortium with government-owned mobile operator Telecsa (Alegro), reports BNamericas citing local paper La Hora. The consortium will set up a council which will design a unified corporate policy and create a joint strategy for the short, medium and long term as well as manage the operators’ infrastructure. The council will also be tasked with standardizing the companies’ operating processes and coordinate the integration of the operators’ services, with the aim of paving the way for a future merger of the trio.
