Nikitas Alexandridis, the president of Greece’s independent telecoms regulator, the EETT, has accused former monopoly telco OTE of hindering competition in the sector, writes reporter.gr. Speaking to a conference, Mr Alexandridis also accused OTE of inflexibility in introducing new technologies and negatively affecting the quality of new generation telecoms services. ‘We hope now that Deutsche Telekom has acquired a stake in OTE, to see an improvement in [OTE’s] behaviour towards the customers and its approach to the regulator’, he said. OTE’s President, Panagis Vourloumis, who was present at the conference, reportedly left the room in protest at Mr Alexandridis’s statements.
