On switches on ON TV

9 Jun 2008

Greek alternative telco On Telecoms has launched new IPTV services under the ON TV banner, including video-on-demand (VoD) services, reports telecompaper. ON TV also includes ‘On Rec’, a service enabling playback of TV programmes broadcast up to three days ago. An ON TV package costs EUR15 per month (USD23.7). According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms database, On Telecoms launched triple-play services in Athens in late January 2007, over incumbent OTE’s unbundled ADSL connections and its own all-IP metropolitan fibre-optic network. Initially, residential packages consisted of ADSL2+ broadband access, a fixed telephone connection, free TV channels via IPTV and optional pay channels provided by a third-party, Nova, with a single bill for all services and line rental. With the full commercial launch of ON TV, customers can access a full bouquet of On Telecom’s pay-TV channels via IPTV, whilst Nova services also remain available.
