Emcali seeking partner

BNamericas reports that Cali-based utilities company Emcali is considering forming a strategic partnership with a major telecoms player such as Telmex or Telefonica. The operator requires significant funds to expand its telecoms business and a tie up would provide it with the additional resources and experience needed. The company, which recently launched a new portfolio of telecoms services, including IP telephony and unified communications services, will start offering domestic and international long distance telephony in the second half of 2008. Emcali is waiting for the regulator the CRT to assign the necessary line numbering options.
