China Telecom selects Alca-Lu for upgrades

Alcatel-Lucent’s flagship company in China, Alcatel Shanghai Bell, has announced that it has signed a contract with China Telecom for the expansion of the operator’s nationwide IP metro area networks. According to Alca-Lu, it will deploy its 7750 service router (SR) and 7450 Ethernet service switch (ESS) in the provincial markets of Jiangsu, Guangdong, Shanghai, Sichuan, Hubei, Guizhou, Ningxia and Gansu. Once the solution is deployed, China Telecom will be able to provide multiple IP-based services such as 3G wireless broadband, IPTV and virtual private network (VPN) services using a single network infrastructure.
